What is recreational vehicle insurance?

Recreational vehicle insurance provides protection if you cause injuries or damages to others. It can also cover the cost of damages to your vehicle, if an incident that is covered occurs.

Vehicles covered

Unlike auto insurance, which only covers cars and trucks, recreational vehicle insurance covers a wider variety of vehicles, both in and out of state, including:

Class A, B, and C motorhomes

Travel trailers

Pop-up and truck campers

Boats, up to 50 feet long

Personal watercraft

Off-road vehicles

Comprehensive coverage

protects your vehicle from theft, vandalism, windshield damage, acts of nature, and debris kicked up by other vehicles

Collision coverage

covers damage to your RV due to an accident, regardless of fault

Bodily injury and property damage liability

normally only required for motorhomes. Pays for damage or injuries you cause while driving your motorhome and covers legal fees that may result from the accident.

Uninsured / underinsured property damage & bodily injury liability

coverage protects your motorhome when damages occur, or when you experience personal injury in an accident

Medical payments

medical bills, up to the limit you choose, may be covered for you and your passengers if you’re in an accident, regardless of fault

What does recreational vehicle insurance not cover?

Recreational vehicle insurance does not cover natural wear and tear from things such as mold, fungi, or rot. Damage from earthquakes and floods is also not covered.
