8 Car Insurance Discounts You May Qualify For

Published June 25, 2024

As Massachusetts auto insurance rates increase, the ability to qualify for discounts on your policy becomes more important. There are several ways to save money on your car insurance policy; you may qualify for some car insurance discounts that can decrease your premium.

What car insurance discounts do I qualify for?

1. Good driver discounts

Driver history discounts take into consideration how responsible of a driver you have been. You’re more likely to qualify for this discount if you have a clean driving history. If there are a few infringements on your driving history, such as a speeding ticket, DUI, or car accident, your qualification for this discount becomes less likely. 2. Multi car insurance discount

Many auto insurance providers will give you a discount if you have multiple cars under the same policy. Car insurance companies encourage families that have multiple cars under the same household to put them on the same policy to receive this discount.

3. Webster First Federal Credit Union member

This is a WebFirst specific discount. Some of our auto carriers give you a discount if you bank with our parent company, Webster First Federal Credit Union.

4. AARP Discount

AARP is a service that gives individuals above 50 years of age discounts on certain things. If you are above the age of 50, we recommend getting AARP so you can qualify for this discount.

5. AAA Discount

AAA is a roadside service that you can pay a membership fee for every year. If you don’t have towing and labor as an added coverage on your car insurance policy, we recommend getting AAA so that you don’t have to pay towing fees when your car breaks down. You also get a discount on your insurance as a member of AAA.

6. Bundle discount

A bundle discount is similar to a loyalty discount. Insurance companies are essentially rewarding you for bringing them more business and more assets to protect. Oftentimes, you can bundle home, auto, and life insurance together, which will get you a discount. You can often throw in a recreational vehicle, such as a boat as well. Check out this article about the benefits of bundling your insurance for more information.

7. Pay in full

You’ll receive a pay in full discount when you pay the entire amount of your policy upfront. This is because you’re seen as less of a financial liability to the company, since you’ve already paid for the entire duration of your car insurance policy upfront.

8. Good student

A good student discount is given typically to students from ages 16-24 in full-time high school or college who maintain a certain GPA. This is because data shows that students who are more responsible in the classroom are statistically less likely to get into an accident and are therefore seen as lower risk by the insurance company.
